Benefits Of A Broadband Wireless Network
Remember the days of connecting your phone line to your modem in order to access the Internet? Remember that squealing, static-y sound you waited through to finally have the access you were waiting for. To finally be able to spend minutes uploading single pages or sending short emails? Well, those days are certainly far behind us. Of course, some people still use their phone line, but the technology has improved dramatically.
These days most people have access to the Internet through a broadband Internet connection. This is a much faster system, although you still have the option of how quick you'd like your service to be. The packages and options vary to meet the different needs of different Internet users.
On top of the faster connection that is available these days, there is also the option of going for a broadband wireless network. This could mean one of two things. There are actual networks that come completely wireless into your home.
This type of technology is terrific for many reasons. Some outlying towns are still not connected in many of the ways larger cities are. The infrastructure is just not there to allow for addition of new cables and lines without it being an enormous undertaking. This means that these places can have broadband wireless network access without the need for that infrastructure. Essentially, this means that those places will bypass decades of telecommunication evolution.
Another meaning for broadband wireless network is the type that is set up in your home or office from the broadband connection you already have. In this case, the cable that would normally be able to connect to only one computer is instead connected to a router. This router transmits that signal that allows Internet access to any computer within the network.
Some of the benefits of this type on network system are obvious. The convenience of being able to access the Internet without the need to hook up to the broadband cable means that a laptop can be used anywhere within the house. You can do email from your bed, or possibly work out on the balcony or patio.
Broadband wireless networks also cause less damage. In the home, the only way to have Internet access from multiple locations used to be to drill holes in the walls and run cables into any room that was meant to have access. Now, with just one cable, there is access anywhere in the home, without the need for ruining your walls.
In the workplace, broadband wireless networking means few cables going through the office and causing hazards to employees. Besides looking nicer, this frees employers from some of the fears of workers compensation suits being filed against them over someone potentially tripping over a cord.
As we move swiftly ahead in technology, it is increasingly desirable to have a broadband wireless network in your home or workplace. The benefits are great, and the convenience is pretty great, too.
